I know last #blogpostmonday I said I’d finish last week’s thoughts today but I think I’m gonna finish that up Wednesday. Yesterday I mentioned a story in 1 Kings 18 and why it’s so important to remember. A little background on on this. Israel was split in two kingdoms: Israel and Judah. If you study this, Israel had no good kings. We’re looking at Ahab today. He had married a woman named Jezebel had under his influence, Ahab did a lot of stupid things which was leading Israel into idolatry worshipping Baal.

Elijah was the only prophet alive after Jezebel had all the other prophets killed because Elijah told Ahab would not rain for years until he said so because of the idolatry. Elisha has all the people get together on Mount Carmel to say who is really God, Jehovah or Baal? Israel needed to stop wavering and make up their mind.

They prepared altars but did not set fire to them and the real God would send fire from heaven. The prophets of Baal did some silly things but nothing happened. Elijah has water put on his altar and God brought them fire down and consumed the alter.

Look what God does here, he shows up. He just didn’t burn the bull but consumed the entire altar, the water, the stone and wood as well. God is intentional about showing up. Then came that rain. That cloud was small. The size of a man’s hand. But there was rain coming. It may not always seem like it. It may not always feel it. But God is working and moving in this pandemic.
