Holy Tuesday:A Holy Week Reflection (March 30,2021)

A Holy Week Reflection
It’s Tuesday on this Holy Week and where my heart is at is the moment is Isaiah 53. The imagery here baffles me. I’m in awe of you Jesus. Verse three says Jesus is “a man of sorrows aquainted with grief.” Jesus was despised.
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:4-5 ESV
Jesus carries your burdens so you don’t have to. He carried your cross sown the Via Dolorosa. Behold the man upon the cross, God turns His face away from His Son because he carries the sin of the world on his shoulders, He carried your sin. This fight for your life is personal. Jesus takes the guilty verdict and pays for it with his blood. That’s how much he loves you. Jesus took every sin on the cross. His body was crushed and broken for your sin, for my sin. His punishment brings us peace so that we could be healed and free. It’s for you.
Jesus silently takes it all. We are the guilty ones but we are the one’s walking free. Jesus is the author of this scandal of grace. He died in my place so my soul will live. Look at his mercy. “But God who was rich in mercy.” This is scandalous, how could this be?
“Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.”
Isaiah 53:10 ESV
You hear me? Beloved one, you are worth it. Verse 10 startles me the most. It was God’s will to crush Jesus and cause him to suffer so you can be free.”
“Our sin stopped his heart, but here’s the good news, He never stopped loving you.” Take that promise personally. Its for you. Hold it so tightly and never let it go. Tomorrow, Maundy Thursday would be the last day of Jesus’ life before he’d rise again. We won’t say goodbye yet, Sunday is coming.
