Are you wearing love?
Happy #wonderwednesday! On Friday I’ll be turning 19 and I have so many things to talk about but we will then. Anyway the question for today is from a passage we read before in Colossians 3. We read verses 15-17 in one of our first wonder Wednesdays. Let’s go back a few verses based on a guided prayer I listened to.
“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”
Colossians 3:12-14 MSG
This little passage is packed with a lot of information so let’s break it down. God calls us to a new life through Jesus. Think of these things like a wardrobe that God picked out just for you. Kindness, humility and quiet strength are in this wardrobe. Be even tempered and quick to forgive. Be content. We have to be forever as quickly and as much as Jesus forgives us. “And regardless of whatever else you put on, where love. It’s your basic, all purpose garment. Never be without it.”
Look! Of all the things to put on, the most important is love. Paul says never be without this one. Love is an all purpose garment. I wish this on all you too. Don’t be without love. So many times we leave love behind because it’s for all people and purposes. Don’t let that garment get old and dusty. Ask Jesus to help you. You can let go of the spirit of heaviness and put on a garment of praise.
