Worship Song Sunday
By Today’s #worshipsongsunday is “There is a Cloud” by Elevation Worship. A lot of things have been going on in my personal life regarding college and I was reminded of this song in my spirit. “There is a cloud beginning to swell. We receive your rain.”
“And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.” The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’ ” Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.”
1 Kings 18:41-45 NIV
I love this story and it’s entirety which we’ll talk about tomorrow. This is after Elijah had a battle with Ahab’s prophets over who was really God. Jehovah or Baal. God showed his mighty power and was victorious. This little verse here is so important because Elijah has told Ahab because of Israel’s idolatry there would be no rain in Israel for years until he said so. Elijah told his servant to keep looking because it was going to rain. And sure enough there was a cloud the size of a man’s hand. I love how specific scripture is. Like look at your hand compared to the clouds in the sky. The dry season is over. It may not seem like it but is there is a cloud beginning to swell. Receive the rain, God’s love is like a flood.
