Where are you?
I’m not sure what my question will be by the time I finish writing this but I was working on a post for @talesofterryn. I enjoyed writing the Holy Week posts everyday. I’m serious I don’t know what is going to happen so let’s go on this adventure together. Random thoughts of today are where are you? It’s the first question the Creator asked the created. I don’t actually know where you are but God does. He meets you right where you are. He doesn’t bring shame and blame. Let’s look at the story in Genesis 3.
“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.””
Genesis 3:8-13 ESV
Adam and Eve had just done what God said don’t do, so they hid. God came down from heaven to walk with them like He did every day. God knows where they are but he says “Where are you?” He knows where they are but God still asks. He asks for them. Adam and Eve now feel shame because of sin. They realized they are naked and ashamed. Adam tells God he heard his creator coming so he hid. The God asked “Who told you that you were naked? God doesn’t scold the creation He calls his created “very good.” The same thing is true for you. Who told you that you were naked? Who crushed your heart? God cares about that because he loves you too. That’s crazy right? It’s hard for us to understand that God doesn’t use shame. God loved people so much he participates in this scandal of marvelous grace. The Bible says “before the creation of the world, the lamb was slain.” God has had a plan of redemption from the start and this plan is for you. You can hold onto the Father’s love you for. Jesus looks at the woman caught and adultery and asks “where are your accusers? Is there anyone left to accuse you?And she said “no one Lord.” Jesus said “neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” Jesus doesn’t condemn you. Go live in that freedom.
