Wonder Wednesday: Holy Wednesday (March 31,2021)

Were you there?
These words on penned from the hymn “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?” Use your imagination with me today a you read this. Imagine yourself in the crowd of Palm Sunday, now at the last supper of Jesus. You’re at the last supper with Jesus. He shares in the last meal you’d share with him until rise again. We’ll talk about this meal tomorrow. From then Jesus prayed in a garden. He’s praying for his disciples, he’s praying for you. Yet Jesus says “not my will but you’re be done.” From there, Jesus is betrayed, arrested, beaten mocked and scorned. When having to let him go or let Barabbas go free. Imagine being in that crowd who were saying “Crucify him!”. Imagine walking with the innocent Lord as he walks down the Via Dolorosa to Golgotha. Imagine watch the soldiers nailing Jesus to the tree, the conversations to the two Thieves, the seven last saying of Jesus.
Jesus said “it is finished” and he breathed his last.
“Were you there when they crucified my Lord? We’re you there when they crucified my Lord. Oh oh oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble tremble. Were you there when they crucified my Lord?”
“Were you there when they nailed him
To the tree?”
“Were you there when they pierce him
In the side?
“Were you the sun refused to shine?”
“Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?”
This song doesn’t end there but today is does on this Good Friday on a Wednesday it does. Our sin stopped his heart, but the incredible part of God never stopped loving you.
“What Can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
This reckless plan of this scandal of grace got personal. It’s the incredible love of the Father for you. In a few short days, Friday is come, how could one describe such a day? Good Friday.
