Where is God in the chaos?’

This post was written by my sweet friend Katy who’s amazing and some kind of way we think we‘re like the same person. Love ya sweet friend!

It is easy for Christians to fall into the lie that they should not be afraid. If stress is overwhelming, that means that you need to just trust God more. There is good scriptural basis for this, I mean "perfect love casts out fear" (1 John 4:18) and "God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). And yet, Jesus himself was so scared of what he would face on the cross that "his sweat fell to the ground like drops of blood" (Luke 22:44) God's presence does not reveal itself by taking away the pain. Instead, God is even more faithful by being present with us in the pain. By promising that there will not always be pain, and that beauty can come from the pain. God redeems the brokenness of our humanity and allows us intimacy with God by ensuring that we are not alone ever. I think that that is "the peace that surpasses all understanding" (Phillipians 4:7)

Not the absence of hardship, but faith that God is with you and that God cares enough to make something come of your struggles.

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:41-44‬ ‭ESV‬‬
